2007.06.06	A Vatnajökull (jökull=gleccser) Európa legnagyobb gleccsere, 8300 km2 a területe. Az 1-es főúton haladva sok helyen kinyúlnak a gleccser "lábai". A déli-délkeleti partvonal lagúnás vidék, gazdag madárvilággal. A lagúnák leghíresebbje a Jökullsárlón, a gleccserlagúna, amelyben a gleccserből leszakadó jéghegyek lebegnek, és úsznak a tengerbe. A jéghegyek között fókák is élnek. Vatnajökull (jökull=glacier) is the largest glacier in Europe, its territory of 8300 km2. While driving on the main highway (#1), we saw many "legs" of the glacier. The south-eastern coastline is a lagoon-area, with many bird species. The most famous lagoon is Jökullsárlón , the glacier laggoon, where picturesque icebergs are floating in the water, and flowing down to the sea. There are seals among the icebergs.
